Each Friday your child will bring home a folder that has a note from me about the learning happening in one subject area. It will list at the top what papers/ work should be placed in the folder to be taken home. It will also indicate if that work should stay home or be brought back to school. Each week the folder will include the students weekly report about their habits to promote learning, their weekly learning log, and their assignment tracker.
I have found that reflecting and sharing about one subject area each week is manageable for third graders and their families. Therefore, most weeks in addition to the weekly report and assignment tracker the folder will also include your child's work that demonstrates their learning in one curriculum content area. Often times, there is an assessment or two from that area that I like to share so that parents and students will understand their grade and I ask parents to sign those assessments, but to return them to class for my record keeping. There is also often times that we have completed a unit and we're taking home papers that we should not bring back to school.
